Although the general thinking is that you have to draw in order to paint well, I think you could be right in the sense that painting requires you to block in shapes, which is also necessary for drawing well. And come to think of it, I do believe I took drawing and painting classes in the same term so maybe they they do go hand in hand. Glad you got back to art!
